    New Alder EP delivers

The long-awaited follow up to his stellar "Long Way Down album", this record presents a more intimate and exposed side of Alder.   However, woven within the sonic fabric of the stripped down acoustic guitars and breathy vocals, there are some beautiful darknesses and cathartic lights in "Constant Drift…," Alder’s heaviest writing effort yet. “Change” has always been my favorite of his songs at his live shows, and it shines here in this powerfully haunting recording.  Check out Alder live if you can, or any of his other records for that matter.  He is a true talent not only as an artist, but also as a producer. This is well worth the 5 bucks!

    It’s been a while

I’m proud to announce the first Alder show in probably 3 years. I’ve been working with so many other projects and finally some space has cleared up for me to start playing MY music again. I’ll be playing a FREE show at the Apple store on the 3rd Street Promenade in lovely Santa Monica at 8pm. Stop by to hear some of these new songs and even a few more for the next full-length album I’ve already started.

2010 will be a year of new beginnings for me and Alder. Come be a part of it with me.

    “Long Way Down” iTunes reviews

Here are the reviews for “Long Way Down” on iTunes. Keep them coming!

    A Breath of Fresh Air

Memorable melodies, often exotic instrumentation, and tasteful amounts of delightfully indie sounds grace this album from the catchy start of "Answers" all the way through to the hauntingly honest "Penance". Other favorites include "Dreamer", complete with a marching band making an appearance, as well as the fake-out start to "Sleep This Night". Don’t worry about figuring out which songs to buy, just get them all and you won’t be disappointed.

    Complex yet Refreshing

I listened to this album from start to finish and it was simply amazing. Think the Fray blended with Counting Crows with a dash of Tammany Hall NYC and you have ALDER. Buy this album and you will have the first release of artist we will see in the national spotlight very soon!

    Amazing

    New Alder album and website!

To accompany the long-time-coming release of “A Constant Drift In My Step”, I’ve rolled out this rad new website made by yours truly.

Several of these songs have been sitting in the trunk in my closet for over a year and I’m so excited that I’m finally putting them out in the universe. For those who have been with me for a while, these songs might sound a bit different and strange, but take them in as you would anything new. All of these songs come from an intensely personal place in me and at first I was reticent to put them out in the universe, but what’s the point of keeping something like that to oneself?

The artwork for the album was done by my uncle Don Coker [http://www.doncokerart.com/blog/], a wonderful artist in Columbus, GA. I’ve been wanting to work with him for a while now and the stars aligned for both of us. Please check out his artwork, he does amazing stuff. With the original oil painting that is now the cover/album art, I’m now the proud owner of two of his pieces. He does a small painting a day, that you can purchase on his blog.

If you purchase this new album directly through this website, you’ll also get the full album artwork to marvel like I’ve been doing.

    David
